This certification is granted when a product is made complying with Canadian organic standards, guaranteeing the integrity of food from the fields to the table.

What is required to obtain it? It is important to demonstrate that the production processes did not use prohibited substances during the last 3 years. Similarly, it requires an inspection by a certifying body, accredited by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

Who needs to be certified? According to Canadian organic standards, certification is required for producers, processors, handlers, and manufacturers. In some cases, inspection of other types of operations is also required.

What are the bases of this certification?

  • Health: organic agriculture must sustain and improve the health of the soil, plants, animals, humans and the planet.
  • Ecology: organic agriculture must be based on sustainable ecological systems and cycles.
  • Justice: organic agriculture must build relationships that guarantee justice in relation to the environment and life opportunities.
  • Caution: organic farming must be managed in a safe and responsible manner to protect the health and well-being of present and future generations, and the environment.

At Heincke, we have the Canada Organic certification, which represents a step further in our goal to revolutionize agriculture, to make it more sustainable, equitable and beneficial for society and the environment.
